ECO CLUB

Eco Club of the school organizes various activities such as plantation of trees, cleanliness drive, Environment week, slogan writing competition to create awareness among the students about the Environment. On Earth day the club members organized a rally to motivate the students to say ‘no’ to the use of plastic, to adopt 3 R’s and to minimize noise pollution.

EVENING CLASSES

Sacred Heart Convent Evening School is run from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Children are picked up from their homes and reached back by bus daily. At present Sr Lyra, the Principal of Sacred Heart Convent School, is in Charge. There are nearly 200 children from Std I-VII. Seven teachers are employed to teach the children. English, Maths and Punjabi are taught. Computer and spoken classes are conducted. Students are good in studies and in co-curricular activities. They participate in sports and games too. Mr. Rajinder Gupta, the Managing Director of Trident Group and supported this project from its very inception.

RAYMOND SERVICE CLUB

The congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, popularly known as Bethany Sisters, was founded in Mangalore on July 16, 1921 by the late Msgr Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas, with four members viz. Sr Martha, Sr Clare, Sr Lourdes and Sr Gertrude to participate in the mission of the Church by responding to the prevailing needs of the times.

The Congregation was founded chiefly for the education of the rural poor, especially girls, care of the children the sick and elderly. The Sisters of Bethany Congregation are involved in pastoral, educational, social and medical apostolate according to the needs of the place.

Mgr Raymond FC Mascarenhas was the champion of the cause of the poor. He has set us an example of preference for the poor, claiming their rights and get involved in their struggles. The compassionate pastor Mgr RFC Mascarenhas strove that girls should receive education on an equal footing with boys as the neglect of their education was a great concern of his heart.

The Social Service Club of Sacred Heart School, Barnala is known as ‘Raymond Social Service Club’. It is named after the Founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore and the first President of the Bethany Educational Society (BES). The purpose of the Social service club is to create awareness in the students the plight of the poor and marginalized section of the society. Members of the club have carried on their activities in Gandhi colony, Lepers colony and slums of Barnala. They will also visit the school for the Deaf and Dumb, the Blind and nearly villages and distribute things collected during Social Service Week and conduct awareness programmes.
